the old lady stood by the nurses station, 4 wheel walker in hand.
as i distractedly glanced over at my 3rd yr students pouring over their patient's history
and started quizzing them on Mr X.
and so she stood patiently
till i finally asked " can i help you?"
"ah yes.. is Mr A in here?"
Me (yelling across the nurses station) " ANNNE!!! (*names changed to protect privacy)! Mr A! he self discharged today???"
Anne: "yeah!"
"sorry.. he's left.. with his son..." i apologetically replied... and turned back to my students..
2 mins later..
Anne(nurse): You did know who that was didn't you
Me: No
Anne: That was Dame Elisabeth Murdoch
Me: LIKe. seriously. Dame elisabeth Murdoch?!?!?! you are NOT joking.. like.. the building that was named after her in melb uni.
LIKE..
DAME ELISABETH MURDOCH?!?!?!?!?
it was like meeting the queen.. but someone 10x richer
crap.. i nearly fainted on the spot.
in front of my students.
Fellow physio(very dryly): you know Joy, if u had been nicer.. maybe she would have waved a cheque in front of you and you'll be set for retirement right now.
haha. but it was still exciting.
and
yes.
she does look exactly the same in the photo (if u click on the link)
