darn
i think the resident doc is CUTE.
arghs
he's not physically VERY good looking
just tall.. skinny..specs..
and if he doesn't open his mouth..
you'll think he's abit of a typical asian med student type
even tho he's ABC.. seems the type to hang out more with the asians than ABCs.
but...
he has a cute dimple-ly smile...(sucker for that)
and his voice is so nice... i love hearing him talk at case conferences.. haha
and the accent is cuteeee!!
the way he just listens to everyone..
including me, when i tell him to increase drugs. ha.
and is just so accomodating..
and talking to him today about some patient!!! and he had this funny smile on his face..
*melts*
its good i only see him one more week.
keep the mystery.. and move on.
8:10 PM
I'll never look back
and say i missed the life of a high flyer.
Got my FIRST ever present! (just for me!)
from one of my patients yesterday... and not even in a private hospital.. which makes it extra sweet. (cos.. it means.. they are not extremely rich or high class..)
one simple gesture.
that just means so much
Chocolates.. as usual.. but as anyone knows.. that keeps me Waaaay happpy.
and LINDT too! a whole box!
awww.. i never wanna finish eating it.. just keep it on my shelf... and remember i did
something to change someone's life. The posh lunches/dinners/ business suits/high heels
I'll never know it (unless i decided on a MAJOR career switch down the track..)
i don't care.
I'll go for my nice dinners/holidays and pay/ have someone pay for me in future..
I'm happy being stuck in a freezing cold gym..
seeing your patients improve...so
slowlywhen it gets so frustrating sometimes.. i just wanna scream.. yank their arm/ leg into position and say " There! Ive fixed you!"(but they'll probs end up at the surgeons with a dislocated/ torn something.. and i'll get majorly sued.. haha.)
and being a student is extra sucky.. cos u get supervisors breathing down your neck...
met one of the sweetest italian old man... who comes in twice a week. Has shown me the all the pics of his family and grandson... and how much he likes the physios.. and his whole life story..
and i'm practising my italian with him!
he's happily teaching me all the basics.. "how are you!" and "good, thank u!"
he is SO NICE. keeps telling me to have kids. What the.
its pple like that who make my day
oh yes.. you get the occasionally nasty ones who refuse to do anything.. but.. on the whole... they are just so FUNNY. one of my patients thought the surgeons did surgery and put her arm on backwards when she wasn't getting better quickly... (when in fact it was just a fracture that just didn't heal). and i just sat there..nodding seriously.. trying to keep a straight face and frantically trying to think if i missed reading something from her notes.
they keep me entertained.

To give anything.. to go home for 2 weeks...
just missing things so.
to see shawnnieee dear..

sayangthe sights and sounds
the comfortability

*wishing for a baby grand*
Home
Michael Buble
Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm
Maybe surrounded by
A million people
I Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh I miss you, you know
And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that
Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home
Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home
And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
But this was not your dream
But you always believe in me
Another winter day has come
And gone away
And even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home
And I’m surrounded by
A million people
I Still feel alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know
Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home
11:22 PM
Current fav song.. to cling on.
He will Carry MeMark SchultzI call, You hear me
I’ve lost it all
And it’s more than I can bear
I feel so empty
You’re strong
I’m weary I’m holdin’ on
But I feel like givin’ in
But still You’re with me
And even though I’m walkin’ through The valley of the shadow
I will hold tight to the hand of Him
Whose love will comfort me
And when all hope is gone
And I’ve been wounded in the battle
He is all the strength that I will
Ever need
And He will carry me
I know I’m broken
But You alone
Can mend this heart of mine
You’re always with me
And even though I feel so lonely
Like I’ve never been before
You never said it would be easy
But You said you’d see me through
The storm

I hardly hardly blog about my hospital life.
but.
i think i shld start
hehs.
oh my immense horror..
i found i was the
only Geriatrics student on placement where i am!
mans.
and none at the other two other clinical schools too.
OH mans.
WHAT HAPPENED!! we usually go in pairs!!
so.. i'm gonna get special special attention. sighs.
I guess... the consolation that made up for it is..
out of my three superviors.. all of them seem nice
(well.. its the first day.. can't judge much yet)
and One is EXtREmely nice.
and so funny.
reading patient's notes..and she start telling me about her mom!
and she's the senior clinician.. and seems to know... !!!
like.. asking
me what LVF (left ventricular failure for the non meds out there) is?
oh mans.
its like asking a singaporean what "CMI" means.
i was looking at her in amazement.
like. hello! basic term?!
and happily skipping off to the resident doc to ask him another abbreviation.
She's so cute.
which reminds me.
the resident DOCTOR IS CUTE TOO!!!
hahahaha! FINALLY.
one CUTE doc. ok. Not BAD.
in one and a half years in hospital.. i've
never.. repeat NEVER met a cute AND very nice doc. And young. they are usually one of the three aforementioned characteristics. or if u are lucky, a maximum of 2.
but NOT 3!!!
he was so nice he was getting patient files for me!
a pathetic physio student!
And actually shaking my hand when we got introduced (they usually don't bother shaking hands.. with.. u know.. low class pple..)
ok.
i'm sure the 4th criteria of being available is not going to be fulfiled.
but its ok. i'm happy with 3.
asian guy.. with a Very Cute real aussie accent too!
and gonna see him for the nx 3 1/2 wks!
muhahahaaa....

Had one of the most amazing wkends.
Ever.
We had a "desperate physios" sleepover!
Lauren, Gretel and I.
AH.
lovely.
Because my friend so kindly gave me all 23 episodes of desperate housewives.. to kill me and my boredom during this measly (1 wk)holidays.. i had two very eager, half screaming coursemates bugging for a good night out watching EVERYTHING.
So, the two gals came over on sun night.. (THank God for the queen and having a QUEENS'S BIRTHDAY holiday today!!and the fact that i'm no longer in uni..and not having exams at the moment.heh heh.)
And we played an evening of tennis..
which was fun.. since lauren was good and gretel was pretty amazing for a first timer.. whoa.. her balls fly at top speed..
and dinner..
It was SO GOOD.
We fried tempura(!!!)everything! sweet potato.. eggplant.. Mushrooms!! ( SO SO YUMMY... like TGIFs), onion rings (beats burger king HANDS DOWN!)all crispy.. and crunchy.. and dipped in jap tempura sauce. OMG.
So there we were.. cooking and eating at the same time.. burning our fingers and mouths 'cos of our impatient-ness..
and then one (not so) bright idea hit me!
TEMPURA ICE CREAM!!!
Heh. SO bright.
and the two girls adamantly REFUSED.
because it "doesn't work in a house kitchen!!too little oil.. not hot enough!"etc etc..
so.. i suggested Tempura chocolate!! (even brighter!)
and they dubiously agreed to give it a try.
So using (Very nice)MArks and Spencers hazelnut praline bar which i broke off.. we dunked it in batter.. and watched it sizzle... and THennn.. all the choc started melting and flowing into the oil.. and i tried dumping more batter into the HOT HOT oil... when suddenly.. this big "POP!" and a huge splash of oil hit me squarely on the thumb.. in 3 spots.. and gret's finger!
OWWWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww~!!!!!
ANd thanks to our "amazing" first aid skills (hello.. officially certified ok.. ha)
we were running it under water and icing our fingers the rest of the night..
it was a throbbing throbbing pain.. that just seemed to keep resurfacing once the numbness of the ice wore off...
SO. DO NOT TRY tempura choc in a non- resturant kitchen.
It doensn't work.
Trust us.
After our little drama... and polishing off about 3 platefuls of fried tempura and filling overly sick.. we settled in for the main course! Lauren's lovely lagsange which she made, baked and brought all the waaaay from home!! And now.. i got the secret ingredient that makes it sooo soo good.
haha.
I can't BELIEVE we finished a whole hUGE loaf pan of it!
While watching desperate housewives of course.
Man... the final episodes are a girls' ogling dream come true.
Droooooling over Mike (i'm not crazy abt him.. but the two find him cute).. and JOHN the gardener!! And even lynette's husband.. whatever his name is.. (who was dressed in nothing but a pair of tight briefs!!!!!)
And when it came to the climax.. the final two episodes.. we realised.. MY FRIEND HAD THE WRONG EPISODES ON THE DISC!!!
oh my gosh..
we were all shrieking as loud as it was possible (at 2am)
final two!!
so what an anti climatic ending.. to desperate housewives..
gotta get the episodes soon tho.. :P
So.. we rummaged through more food.. chips.. cheezels.. biscuits..
and a late night snack of instant noodles with eggs at 3am!
and settled down to watch Princess Diaries and Oceans 12.
Which i promptly fell asleep in the middle of since i had watched it before...
and the two gals watched till abt 6am.. before we all fell asleep till about 8.30am.
Woke up to an extremely yummy breakfast of freshly baked blueberry muffins.. (made by yours truly..) scrambled eggs done JUST right (by lauren).. custard buns (thanks grets!) and sweet potato soup... and a cup of tea with sugar.. such a mixed up breakie.. haha.
Sleepover breakfasts are SO FUN.
the conversation was hilarious..
being all girly.. and talking abt the "you know" stuff of life.
I dunno.
the older u get,
the more disgusting you become.
when u can talk abt such topics over breakie.
And feeling extremely FAT and grossed out.
we hit another spot of late morning tennis!
the weather today was perfect.. except for the wIND. which was SO STRONG.. the balls were flying sideways.. and it was all so funny.. wanting to return a serve and have the ball come to a stand still right at your feet.
And after much procrastinating..
i drove the two gals home..
since we start clinics tommorrow (dreading..)
and i have an undone 2000 word assignment which MUST be 50 % done by the end of today.
so.
no more blogging.
i feel like one fat fat blob after all that food.
burps.

One of the things i've
always always loved about australia
is its expansive-ness
Sometimes.. i just forget how
amazingly BIG BIG it is..
until i take a road trip.
Had a huge day out!
Since its the hols.
and gd 'ol edwin wants to tour the vic b4 he goes home for good..
so.. while everyone else is in the middle of slaving away for exams..
we went OUT!
Oh. and i LOVE spontaneous trips too.. and this particular one was concocted the night just before.. which was extremely last min. heh.
Went, or rather drove down to mornington peninsula.. (i was navigator!! pretty good too!!!haha!)
where we went wine tasting.. at Red Hill Estate.. INCREDIBLE views.. the resturant overlooks the vineyard and port philip bay was like.. 200m in the distance.. it was perfect weather.. all blue skies and sea.. and acres of lush green grass and bare grape vines...
Had lunch there.. which was abit pricey.. but worth it for the atmosphere and yummy yummy food...
homebaked bread with extra vigin olive oil..
and a pork tenderloin roast on mash..
calmari on black bean salad..
it was such a "taitai" place.. all the pple eating there were middle aged (and prob loaded with cash.heh.)
but it was fun...
and while edwin bought his wines.. i happily downed all the free samples.. *grin*
went shopping at a couple of the local produce shops in the region
driving around all these country roads..
with huge trees on either side... or magnificent views of vineyards..
bought a couple of homemade preserves.. fig jam.. fruit chutney...
and then i INSISTED on visiting a chocolate shop!
which took ages to find (due to its
tiny sign!)it intrigued me cos the description said " using the finest belgian chocolate"and i was snorting going " Belgian choc in the middle of the countryside? how good can the chocs be?"Ok. i had to eat my words. Its called mornington peninsula chocolates, if anyone is interested..quaint little cottage shop..which was very modern on the inside..extremely friendly chocolatier/owner of the place..and they were actually closed and not open for business..and he kindly opened the place for us..which made me extremely pai seh not to leave with anything..INCREDIBLE CHOCOLATES!!!as good as koko black or better.in terms of quality.. top notch.he offered us a couple of samples..which was omg amazing.i'm NOT a fan of caramel/marzipan centred chocolates cos they are overly sweet and taste pretty disgusting..but these ones were so good i didn't mind actually buying them!and it was edwin's turn to be a freeloader and eat all the samples because (as a guy) he doesn't see/understand the rationale or logic in paying for good chocs ("one pop and its gone!")so anyway now.. i got a boxful of top notch, extremely pretty choc which i dunno whether to give away (heart pain).. or eat them myself.. was actually intending to bring them back to sg for my parents.. but realised the min jan touches down in changi airport.. they are gonna start melting.. and its a BIG waste of perfectly perfect chocolate.. when it turns into a puddle of melted stuff.then.. we were supposed to go horse riding...
which was a pretty funny experience...
reminescent of
someoneiknow-who-shall-not-be-named , we stepped out of the car... to the horse stables.. which obviously smelt pretty bad cos of horse poo...
my dear edwin refused to go horse riding because it was too
smelly and he couldn't take the lovely stench permeating the air (quote: " eh.. can we go to the lavender farm for tea instead?")
Caaaaan...
i'm not the driver!
SO.. we drove to the lavender farm.. which we realised was closed cos its the middle of winter(!!)
and thus decided to go DFO shopping instead and say goodbye to the countryside.
So after a quick whiz through DFO (shopping in 45 mins cos it was closing...)
we went for dinner at sofias in camberwell
The food was GOOD.. portions humongous as usual.. one large pasta was big enough to feed 5 pple.. (for $10!)
and i attempted to matchmake edwin with one of my coursemates (who was a sofia for dinenr with her housemate too).
SUch a funny encounter!!
She was so awkward cos i told her abt him before hand
and
he was more interested in the food than the girl because he was too hungry.
AIYOH.
BUt i think.. it was
not bad!!!
heh hehAnd we finished off dinner with a HUGE gelati shared between 3 pple.. which managed to get finished due to the incessant talking.. eating.. laughing.. gossiping and then... "oh! we finished it!"
Caught a movie at night with edwin and brenda at crowns..
Super cheap tuesdays!
so good!
The upside of Anger
was an ok show.. tho i nearly fell asleep cos i was so tired..
and edwin wanted to go for coffee after at nearly 1 am
when i give him the "u must be joking" stare
so poor guy/ chauffeur drove me home instead. ha.
mm.. the endless possibilites you carry out in less than 24 hrs when living in melbs.
its times like this that i wonder what the fun/ excitment is of living /working in singapore.. and going out in sweltering hot weather.
i love my hols..

would i miss this place when i'm gone?
would i think of the cold prac rooms
and freezing lecture theatre?
would i sit in the hospital cafeteria
and miss sitting on south lawn with the gals?
...
after today,we'll each go our separate ways...
am i scared?
am i looking forward to the end?
...i sit here, apprehensive about the future
afraid to face tomorrow
and trying so hard not to think
about the beauty of yesterday.
--------------------------- as quoted from gretel's blog
Ah.
the sort of end of ever being a uni student.
Such a weird feeling
As the last day of theory block (ever) drew to a close..
All of us had such mixed feelings
Relief: that all the assignments/presentations/tests are over
Eagerness: at looking forward to a hard earned week off
Clinging on: not wanting this time to be over
I'm not feeling particularly sad at the moment..
sort of
detachedlike looking in from the outside
Yet i know it will hit me.. once clinics start again
Yes.. it was a crazy 5 weeks.. filled with plenty of assignments (ha.. don't they just love kiling you the minute you step back into uni?!)
and lots of fun times.. growing closer to gretel and lauren .. and the rest of the 4th years..
having all our long between classes breaks over at gretel's house listening to Jay Chou.. eating lunch.. watching dr phil.. and bemoaning our single-ness status.. and just crapping about life.
All the encourgement through doing our exercise classes...
Gretel's step aerobics class.. which nearly killed everyone that attended..
Yes.. i know what a "gallop", "rocking horse" and "t-step" is now..
(i'll do it on graduation day just to prove i haven't forgetten!)
go step aerobics!
Physio ball...
$5 pastas...
and Ooooh...
Garagethe indonesian resturant serving absolutely awesomely authentic food just across the road frm physio school.. and i discover it only on the last day i'm in uni! ARGHS!
Its a real funky place.. with loads of character...
set in an actual garage.. imagine a big big 4 walled concrete place.. with wooden tables and umbrellas (like those on an outdoor lawn) or.. choose to sit jap style on cushions... dimly lit with lamps.. and the cosy warmness of heaters.. and you can actually
drive your car into the place.. and park nx to your table! how cool is that!
Oh well.
Note to self: go back again soon.
Yeah. being a student pretty much rocks.
The "zoning out"/skipping(heh) lectures.. who cares if u are paying attention or not?
Just being able to laugh and pass stupid messages.. and poke your neighbour nx to you
As compared to:
responsibility
a professional attitude
patient's rights
best practice
being the best physio you can be
urhs
toohard.
