3) went to the Drouin farmers market... and i woke up so late they were closing by the time we arrived.
Oh well.
i got gooseberry and elderflower jam.
exotic enough.

4)Stayed over in a REAL country house.. with a dog and cat climbing over you when you wake in the morn.. and the lush greenery of bushes looking out the bedroom windows. absolutelygorgeous.

5) Spent the w/e driving through the country towns.. walking along the beaches.. having HUGE icecreams that had to be madly licked before it blew away in the winds.. stickyfingersandfaces.. and a good laugh with friends.

6) New found friends, new relationships and new exciting adventures!
i can't believe i'm actually heading back to Gippsland (AGAIN) this fri for a
trivia night. Ha.

Back from the country for good!
ITs been a GREAT 4 weeks!
and i've done and realised a couple of things..
including the following:

1) I had BEER (apparently Gippsland is famous for its beer and Lauren asked me to try.. so i did) and asked for a pizza "with the most meat on it" for dinner one night.
I so freaked the waiter out.
And the people i was with at dinner too.
And i was the driver that night
Being on my Ps and not being allowed to drink,
i flipped my keys over to the guy (i've known for like.. 2 weeks) and told him to drive my car.
and it was alot of fun.
and this story shall end here. (before i embarrass myself)

2)Being friendly and being professional
is the weirdest feeling in the world.

when u see your fellow doc on the ward.. looking all smart in long sleeved shirt and tie..very glamarously walking around the accomodation..standing in front of you brushing his teeth with an electric toothbrush, tie flipped over his shoulder, nudging you to wake up.

And then in half an hour, working together on the wards, where everything is extremely polite in front of all the staff and you keep your professional distance and appropriate conversations (which usually tends to disintegrate by the end of the day when i get multiple reminders (ie NAGS) to see all his patients and get them discharged.
UghHS.
And then getting verbal referrals outside of work time just because we hang out together.
Sometimes.. the boundaries are very blurry...

i think.. its just easier to be either purely friends OR colleagues
especially with a guy. at. work.
because people TALK.
esp nurses.. and everyone DOES notice when they flirt with the docs. (haha)
And they he complains i'm aloof and am ignoring him when we meet on the ward.
*sticks out tongue*
all too complicating.
which is why i'm glad we are not working together anymore! =)

its felt like so long..
2 weeks and it feels like a lifetime of being away.
another world, another place and time.

and then looking at my account balance in shock and realising i have more money than i think despite the spending and spending.
Its nice in a funny way.
when i just keep repeating " I don't understand why i have so much money!
and then realising i am earning $

And lauren says " Imagine 12 months ago when we were still doing our first clinical block of 4th yr!"
yup.. i remember..
and 12 mths on..
we are:
still together
in the same uniform at work
bugging each other on the wards
being dodgy with our patients
and getting paid.
and then we laugh at the reminiscence of those student days...

and getting horrified emails from friends that think i'm moving to the country for good.
Well.. FYI.. I"M NOT!
not for now anyway.

work on the other hand..
is GREAT
1) Max 6-7 patients/day--> and that is covering BOTH surgical and HDU
2) lovely lovely country patients that you can sit in with and chat with for hours if u have time... they will tell u their life story and how they ended up in gippsland... haha
3) allied health team is a BLAST=) all great pple
4) i work with the funniest, most talkative Occupational therapist in surgical.. who keeps me entertained
5) Getting paged--> mostly to come down for moring and afternoon tea
HAHA. and we have codes. Absolutely hilarious

Can u come down and give me a hand? I've got an interesting patient = Come down if u have time and check out the cute intern/doc/med student/patient
6) Getting paged over the PA to contact HDU and i'm going " Crap.. another pt" and realise its just the nice nurses telling me to collect my writing stuff i left in a pt's room.
7) Sitting around chatting on gloomy days with the drs cos all of us are bored when we've practially discharged half the ward...

Ok.. off to Geelong today to visit my patient for abit!!
